Aftermarket headunits have an output for this. It's similar to powering the coil on a relay but I don't know if it's the same thing. Some powered subs and amps already have high-in so then no need for line out converter. You then connect the output via RCAs to the input on the powered sub. To get the signal to the sub, you'll need a line out converter (sometimes called high to low converter) that will take the signal from your speakers and attenuate it to line level. ![]() I don't know the power handling of 8 gauge at the length you need. ![]() You might be able to get away with 8 gauge, but I think 4 gauge might be better. You will need one power wire running from the battery to the trunk where you put the sub.
